Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk (or almond milk)
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by warming the milk to about 110°F (43°C). Stir in sugar and yeast; let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture along with melted butter and eggs. Stir until combined into a sticky dough.
  3. Knead on a lightly floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a damp towel, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Punch down the dough, divide into equal portions, shape into round balls, and place snugly in a greased baking dish.
  6. Cover again and let rise until doubled (30-45 minutes). Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown; brush with melted butter after baking.
