Scale
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Decorative sprinkles/icing (as desired)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing in the vanilla extract until fully blended.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters and place them on lined baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.

Nutrition

Keywords: Chilling the dough prevents cookies from spreading during baking. Substitute vanilla extract with almond extract for a nutty flavor. Mix colorful sprinkles into the dough before chilling for added fun.
