  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats (old-fashioned)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 14 oz soft caramels (unwrapped)
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • Sea salt (to taste)
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, and softened butter until crumbly. Reserve one cup of this mixture for topping.
  3. Melt unwrapped caramels with heavy cream over low heat until smooth and pour half over the crust base in the baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle chocolate chips and optional pecans over the caramel layer.
  5. Crumble the reserved oat mixture on top to create an even covering.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly around the edges. Allow to cool before slicing into squares.
