Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • Optional: 2 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water and sugar; sprinkle yeast on top. Let it sit until foamy (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and stir into a shaggy dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and slightly tacky.
  4. Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Punch down the dough, divide it into pieces, roll into ropes (8 inches long), and tie into knots.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place knots on parchment-lined sheets, brush with melted butter mixed with garlic powder, and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
