Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream butter with granulated and brown sugars until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla and red food coloring.
  4. Gradually combine dry ingredients with the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Chill the dough for at least one hour.
  6. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges set; centers should remain soft.
  8. Allow cookies to cool before frosting with cream cheese frosting made by mixing softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
