Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 9 no-boil lasagna noodles
  • 15 oz whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (freshly grated)
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese (fresh)
  • 4 cups marinara sauce (preferably homemade)
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp fresh oregano (chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add minced garlic, fresh basil, and oregano; cook for 1 minute. Stir in marinara sauce and let simmer for 10 minutes until thickened.
  3. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, half of the Parmesan cheese, egg, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce followed by noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, and shredded mozzarella. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up, finishing with meat sauce and remaining cheeses on top.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until bubbling. Let rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
