Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine applesauce and non-dairy milk until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped apples and walnuts if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
