- 1 cup fresh mushrooms (cremini or button), sliced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (plus extra for spreading)
- 1 cup aged cheddar cheese, shredded
- Salt and pepper to taste
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add sliced mushrooms and minced garlic; sauté until tender and golden brown (about 5-7 minutes). Season with salt and pepper.
- Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of sourdough.
