Smothered Chicken and Rice Dish

Smothered Chicken and Rice is a creamy, comforting one-pot meal featuring tender chicken simmered in a rich sauce over fluffy rice—perfect for family dinners or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp dried thyme

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients by chopping the onion and mincing the garlic.
  2. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Season chicken with salt and pepper; sear until golden brown on both sides (about 5 minutes each). Set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onions until translucent, then add garlic and cook until fragrant (about 1 minute).
  4. Stir in rice and chicken broth, bringing to a gentle boil while scraping the skillet bottom.
  5. Add heavy cream, thyme, and paprika; nestle the seared chicken back into the mixture. Reduce heat to low and cover.
  6. Simmer for about 20-25 minutes until rice is tender and has absorbed most liquid. Fluff with a fork before serving.
