Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm apple cider (110°F)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: Combine warm apple cider and granulated sugar in a bowl, sprinkle yeast on top, and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix the dough: In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add melted butter and eggs, then pour in the yeast mixture. Stir until combined.
  3. Knead: Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise: Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Roll out: Roll the dough into a rectangle (½-inch thick), spread softened butter on top, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Shape rolls: Roll tightly from one edge to another and slice into 12 equal pieces. Arrange in a greased baking dish.
  7. Second rise: Let rise for another 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake: Bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Glaze: Whisk powdered sugar with apple cider until smooth; drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
