Method
Prepare the Pie Crust
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and cubed butter. Mix until crumbly.
- Gradually add ice water, mixing until a dough forms. Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Bake the Pie Crust
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan.
- Prick the bottom with a fork and bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool.
Prepare the Filling
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, brown sugar, corn syrup, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
- Stir in the chopped pecans until well combined.
Assemble the Pie
- Pour the buttermilk filling into the pre-baked pie crust, spreading evenly.
Bake the Pie
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes or until the filling is set and slightly puffed.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool at room temperature for at least 1 hour before serving.
