Cooking the Orzo
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Cook until the mushrooms are browned and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the orzo and pour in the vegetable broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, or until the orzo is al dente and most of the broth is absorbed.
Creating the Sauce
- Once the orzo is cooked, reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream and parmesan cheese until well combined.
- Add the chopped basil, salt, and pepper. Stir until the sauce is creamy and heated through, about 2-3 minutes.
Serving
- Serve the creamy basil mushroom orzo warm, garnished with additional basil and parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes
For added flavor, you can include a splash of white wine when cooking the mushrooms. Adjust the salt and pepper according to your taste preferences.
